Famously inspiring, St Ives has played home to countless famous artists and sculptors, including J M W Turner and Henry Moore; and to this day the subtropical vegetation, bright open spaces and bohemian atmosphere continue to draw and inspire sculptors, artists and poets from all over the UK and the world. Many of St Ives stunning holiday bed & breakfasts to rent have witnessed great works of creativity inside their walls. This ever evolving art history can be appreciated at many of the galleries and exhibitions that bring life to St Ives’ historic buildings, including one of only four Tate galleries in the world. Many a pint has been enjoyed in the town’s ancient, low-ceiling pubs while enjoying open-mic poetry and music from local artists.
Benefiting from the mildest climate in the UK, the beach at St Ives and those close by a Porthminster, Porthmeor, Harbour Beach and Porthgwidden, look like they could have been transplanted for your bed & breakfast holiday in St Ives from some far flung tropical island. Exploring the ancient narrow cobbled streets of the town, it can also feel like you just stepped inside a romantic novel as ancient fishing cottages and unique homes bring your imagination to life.
With great surf and Porthminster Beach and even in St Ives Bay when the swell is right, the mild water is a great place to be out enjoying yourself. Famously warm and sunny, be sure to bring your sun screen for your bed & breakfast holiday in St Ives.
The harbour in St Ives remains an active, working harbor and it’s possible to join the local captains here on a day out sightseeing around Godrevy Lighthouse (said to be the inspiration for Virginia Woolf's 'To the Lighthouse'), visiting the local seal colony on Seal Island, or fishing on a real Cornish fishing boat. The local seafood is also on offer in town at a wide range of fantastic restaurants and there are countless venues from which to sit and enjoy the view of the stunning bay.
Whatever holiday lettings or rental bed & breakfast in St Ives you choose, you may want to arrive there on the stunning train line from St Erth to St Ives, watching fishing boats putter around the golden sandy bays as you make your way into the dream Cornish holiday destination of St Ives.
