Trevella Holiday Park is just outside Newquay. It’ll take you about 10 minutes to drive to the town’s main beaches or you can get to Crantock Beach in five minutes by car.
The resort offers a bit of a quieter holiday experience than you’ll get from a caravan park right in the centre of Newquay. It’s got a couple of fishing lakes which might keep some members of your party happy.
There isn’t an indoor swimming pool, but the outdoor swimming pool is heated. Other activities onsite include a minigolf course and a playground, but it certainly doesn’t offer the jam-packed schedule of a Haven holiday park.
Customers say positive things about this park. It scores an average of 4/5 on TripAdvisor or an impressive 4.4/5 on Google Reviews.
You can bring a pet with you to Trevella Holiday Park. It’s worth noting that it’s quite a hilly site, which might be tricky for some people.
Price: £1394 for a family of four sharing a two bedroom caravan. The caravan is designed to take six people including two in the lounge, which would lower the price per person. Another option is to pay about £150 extra for a caravan which sleeps eight people. That would be a little cosy but you’d be paying £25 per person, per night which is a good price for Cornwall in peak season.
4) Perran View Holiday Park (20 minutes to Newquay, indoor swimming pool, playground)
**Winner: cheapest Newquay holiday park**
**John Fowler's Latest Offers: Autumn 2022 from £99 + Last Minute Bargains**
Perran View Holiday Park is a caravan site run by John Fowler Holidays. They’re a popular mid-market chain which is usually good value.
It isn’t right in Newquay but it’s a decent choice if you want a slightly quieter setting which is close enough for day trips. It’ll take you about 20 minutes to get to the seafront in Newquay or the rather lovely beach at Perranporth is five minutes away in the car.
The resort at Perran View is well-equipped with plenty of activities. There’s a modestly sized playground, tennis courts, football pitch, volleyball and pool tables as well as a BMX track which is unusual for a holiday park. During the peak season there are shows for children.
You can argue your way through a game of minigolf ("that was a practice shot" etc.) and go for a swim in the indoor swimming pool. The swimming pool isn’t huge, but you’ll be glad for somewhere to go if you arrive to find it’s pouring with rain.
There’s a pub onsite if you don’t want to cook.
The accommodation at Perran View Holiday Park is more like terraced chalets rather than caravans. The good news is that they aren’t as narrow and wobbly as caravans but keep in mind that you have to be able to climb stairs.
Customers give Perran View Holiday Park a score of 4.2/5 on Google Reviews or 4/5 on TripAdvisor.
Price: £1349 for a week in a pet friendly ‘bronze’ house for a family of four. The accommodation can sleep six people. The silver and gold upgrades have slightly newer furniture.
5) Hendra Holiday Park (indoor swimming pool, great reviews, short drive to beach)
Hendra Holiday Park is another very well equipped Newquay holiday park with loads to do onsite for families. It's a couple of miles from the beach, but reviews are amongst the best in Cornwall, averaging about 4.5/5.
We've ranked as number as if you don't mind busy and no privacy, this is for you.
The park is busy with indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the indoor one has three flumes), as well as activities for kids, places to eat, playgrounds and a skate park. They also do some more unusual activities such as lifeguard training.
It's about 10 minutes by car to the seafront at Newquay where there are various family friendly things to do, such as Newquay Activity Centre.
I'd say Hendra Holiday Park is a good choice if you want somewhere you can spend a couple of days onsite. It's big and busy, so it's not one for someone looking for a week of silence and solitude.
Price: £1362 for a week in a Seaton caravan for a family of four in August 2023. This model is a two bedroom caravan which was new in 2017.
