Often named the heart of Cornwall, Newquay is located in the perfect spot to visit the whole county as it is in the middle of the Nor Cornwall coast. Also relitavily unknown are the waters (sea) on the north coast are 2 - 3 degrees celcius warmer than the south coast. This is due to the Gulf Stream, bringing warmer warters from the oceans of the Carribean. The south coast is in the english channel, this takes longer to warm up in the summer and never reaches the dizzy heights of up to 21°C in August and September on the north Cornish sea.

The choices of golden sandy beaches in and around Newquay are second to none. Crantock beach, Perranporth beach, Polzeath beach going south west of Newquay, then heading towards Padstow you have (after the 5 main town beaches) Whipeiderry beach, Watergate Bay beach, Mawgan Porth Beach, Bedruthan steps, Trevone Beach, Booby's Bay, Constantine beach, Treyarnon bay beach to nam just a fiew, some are large some are small, all have soft golden sands, and the warmest water on the mainland UK.

There's a very good choice of caravan holiday parks in and around Newquay, including big names (Porth, Haven, John Fowler, Park Holidays) as well as quieter family-run sites.

Here's our pick of 5 of the best Newquay caravan holiday parks:

1) Holiday Park Newquay -

Porth Valley Retreat, 5 minutes to Porth beach (Best Value on this list) £1199 for a summer family holiday, half some other prices

Porth Valley Retreat Holiday Park Newquay is just outside Newquay. It’ll take you about 5 minutes to drive to the town’s main beaches or you can get to Crantock Beach in five minutes by car. Every Lodge / Static has a sunset view:sunset

Winter prices are £399 for a couple or £440 for more, well worth a look.

The resort offers a bit of a quieter holiday experience than you’ll get from a caravan park right in the centre of Newquay. It’s got a lake which might keep some members of your party happy.

There isn’t an indoor swimming pool.. Other activities onsite include a 9 hole golf corse just 2 minues away by car, Treloy Golf Course, 5 star rated and great for guests *additional fee for golf.

Customers say positive things about this park. It scores an average of 5/5 on TripAdvisor or an impressive 4.9/5 on Google Reviews.

2) Haven Perran Sands Holiday Park (busy Haven holiday park, indoor swimming pool, beachside location)

**Haven Offers: Last minute bargains from £49 + Spring 2023 from £69**

Haven has got two holiday parks in Cornwall - Perran Sands in the Newquay area and Riviere Sands which is in the more remote section around the South West of the county.

Family friendly caravan park Perran Sands gets a solid 4/5 from most reviewers and it's very well equipped. It's also got the South West coastal path nearby and it's walking distance to a nice stretch of beach.

It's got indoor and outdoor swimming pools, surf and paddleboard lessons, food outlets, evening entertainments, a sports court and adventure golf. Getting to Newquay itself is a 20 minute drive, but you'll spend a lot of your time at the nearer beaches.

Haven is one of the biggest names in the caravan holiday park market in the UK. You'll generally find they cost a little bit more than rival Parkdean Resorts holiday parks (lots of them were formerly called Park Resorts holiday parks).

Perran Sands also has glamping tents and yurts which are usually cheaper than a caravan or chalet. If you want to upgrade from a caravan, there are posher 'beach houses' which are more like the lodges that you get at a lot of UK holiday parks.

Price: £1484 for a week in a saver caravan for a family of four in early August 2023. Haven now offer two options with a holiday booking. We've included the price for Haven Stay + Play which means you can use the facilities. Haven Stay just gives you accommodation and access to the restaurants. For this week, it would be about £100 cheaper.

3). Trevella Holiday Park (10 minutes to Newquay, fishing lakes, outdoor swimming pool)

Trevella Holiday Park is just outside Newquay. It’ll take you about 10 minutes to drive to the town’s main beaches or you can get to Crantock Beach in five minutes by car.

The resort offers a bit of a quieter holiday experience than you’ll get from a caravan park right in the centre of Newquay. It’s got a couple of fishing lakes which might keep some members of your party happy.

There isn’t an indoor swimming pool, but the outdoor swimming pool is heated. Other activities onsite include a minigolf course and a playground, but it certainly doesn’t offer the jam-packed schedule of a Haven holiday park.

Customers say positive things about this park. It scores an average of 4/5 on TripAdvisor or an impressive 4.4/5 on Google Reviews.

You can bring a pet with you to Trevella Holiday Park. It’s worth noting that it’s quite a hilly site, which might be tricky for some people.

Price: £1394 for a family of four sharing a two bedroom caravan. The caravan is designed to take six people including two in the lounge, which would lower the price per person. Another option is to pay about £150 extra for a caravan which sleeps eight people. That would be a little cosy but you’d be paying £25 per person, per night which is a good price for Cornwall in peak season.

4) Perran View Holiday Park (20 minutes to Newquay, indoor swimming pool, playground)

**Winner: cheapest Newquay holiday park**

**John Fowler's Latest Offers: Autumn 2022 from £99 + Last Minute Bargains**

Perran View Holiday Park is a caravan site run by John Fowler Holidays. They’re a popular mid-market chain which is usually good value.

It isn’t right in Newquay but it’s a decent choice if you want a slightly quieter setting which is close enough for day trips. It’ll take you about 20 minutes to get to the seafront in Newquay or the rather lovely beach at Perranporth is five minutes away in the car.

The resort at Perran View is well-equipped with plenty of activities. There’s a modestly sized playground, tennis courts, football pitch, volleyball and pool tables as well as a BMX track which is unusual for a holiday park. During the peak season there are shows for children.

You can argue your way through a game of minigolf ("that was a practice shot" etc.) and go for a swim in the indoor swimming pool. The swimming pool isn’t huge, but you’ll be glad for somewhere to go if you arrive to find it’s pouring with rain.

There’s a pub onsite if you don’t want to cook.

The accommodation at Perran View Holiday Park is more like terraced chalets rather than caravans. The good news is that they aren’t as narrow and wobbly as caravans but keep in mind that you have to be able to climb stairs.

Customers give Perran View Holiday Park a score of 4.2/5 on Google Reviews or 4/5 on TripAdvisor.

Price: £1349 for a week in a pet friendly ‘bronze’ house for a family of four. The accommodation can sleep six people. The silver and gold upgrades have slightly newer furniture.

5) Hendra Holiday Park (indoor swimming pool, great reviews, short drive to beach)

Hendra Holiday Park is another very well equipped Newquay holiday park with loads to do onsite for families. It's a couple of miles from the beach, but reviews are amongst the best in Cornwall, averaging about 4.5/5.

We've ranked as number  as if you don't mind busy and no privacy, this is for you.

The park is busy with indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the indoor one has three flumes), as well as activities for kids, places to eat, playgrounds and a skate park. They also do some more unusual activities such as lifeguard training.

It's about 10 minutes by car to the seafront at Newquay where there are various family friendly things to do, such as Newquay Activity Centre.

I'd say Hendra Holiday Park is a good choice if you want somewhere you can spend a couple of days onsite. It's big and busy, so it's not one for someone looking for a week of silence and solitude.

Price: £1362 for a week in a Seaton caravan for a family of four in August 2023. This model is a two bedroom caravan which was new in 2017.
