We've all been there...

On the Saturday Morning after a friday night of red wine and Love Actually... Waking up suprisingly early for your day off and feeling as festive a pig in a blanket... Quickly googling festive things to do near you and rushing there to find a 2-hour queue for a belly-less santa and what is kindly being referred to as a 'candle making class' for the adults...

And so to avoid another year of festive attraction heartbreaks we've put together a short list of festive things to do that won't disapoint this December!

This list is suitable for all! and so we've made sure to include options for first dates, family days and evenings soiree's.

1. The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Ideal for Dog Walks during the Day and A Great Date in the Evening.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is well known to locals and visitors alike as a beautiful garden worth exploring.

However, in december the gardens take it to a new level with 'an enchanting lantern experience' lining their displays in their 'Night Garden' event which takes place over the entirity of December. This light show takes over an hour to walk through just once and mulled wine, mulled cider and delicious food options are available.

Dogs are not advised inside of the light display but are welcome in the rest of the Gardens year-round.

Stay Nearby:

Cottage with Sea Views

Our recommended stay is this affordable lodge which is swimming in panoramic views. The home sleeps 6 and sits just off of the North Coast - mere minutes from sea views.

2. The Best Way to See The Lights

Christmas Lights

Our number 1 date idea for December!

With Falmouth, St Ives and Truro among the many locations in Cornwall with their own Christmas light switch on event, there is no shortage of instagramable moments under the lights. But instagramable moments OUTDOORS in DECEMBER are hardly a way to spend a whole evening.

So our recommendation is to make a pub crawl of it... plan out a few cute pubs for keeping warm's sake, like the adorable Beerwolf Books in Falmouth that is both a book shop and a beer house and enjoy a wander through the Christmas lights between them.

You can find a great route for Falmouth with a long list of pubs to choose from here!

Stay Nearby:

Christmas picture of Valley Cottages

We recommend this Luxury Truro gem as the best place to stay to access all of Cornwall's festive attractions this December. Valley guests will have exclusive access to their indoor pool, hot tub and gym from the 17th of December - which will help you feel a bit more summery this winter time.

3. Ice Skating at The Eden Project

Ice Skating

Fun for All! Perfect for a Family Day Out!

Nothing entertains children like walking on frozen water. Whether you are a barrier-holder at heart or a figure skating prodigy, we can all agree that it looks quite fun in the movies.

So if you want to try your hand at it impressing a date on ice the best location to do it in Cornwall is in the centre piece tent of The Eden Project's thousands of tropical plants.

Stay Nearby:

Modern Barn House Cornwall

We recommend staying in this Beuatiful Modern Barn House for the chance to take the most festive Christmas morning pictures you've ever taken. Other than looking extremely cosy in photos, this home also boasts a gorgeous open plan living area, a jacuzzi bath and two beautiful bedrooms.
