These are not just meals out- these are incredible experiences, and this list contains the top 5 places to eat and best foodie experiences in Cornwall.

1. Nancarrow Farm Winter Feasts

Nestled in the Cornish countryside, Nancarrow Farm is a working organic farm renowned for its Winter Feasts, which transform seasonal ingredients into unforgettable meals. Think slow-cooked meats, hearty stews, and freshly baked bread served in a rustic barn glowing with candlelight. This year, Nancarrow are celebrating 10 years since opening to the public, a testament to their rich reputation and one-of-a-kind, farm-to-table approach.

Nancarrow’s commitment to sustainability is unparalleled; everything served is either grown or reared on-site or sourced locally. The communal tables foster a sense of camaraderie, encouraging diners to connect over delicious, thoughtfully prepared dishes. The farm’s appeal doesn’t stop there—Nancarrow has garnered widespread recognition, including a TV appearance with Rick Stein and glowing press coverage.

If you’re seeking a heartwarming winter escape, this is the place to be. We recently paid a visit, and can whole heartedly recommend for a memorable and special evening near Truro, perfect for meet ups with friends or as a couple. On arriving, you are taken down winding farm roads leaving you with a sense of where you will end- at a beautiful fire lit courtyard and cosy barn.

You’ll be met with friendly faces and plenty of folks enjoying mulled cider and mingling around open fire pits, tasting canapes from the unique, open, wood-fired kitchen, and taking in the unique deep south sounds of a local folk musician, with an acoustic guitar and harmonica. You can even wander around the gardens, giving you a real appreciation and connection to the land and the food you will be treated to.

Once you are seated, you are given a ‘newsletter’ style menu, giving insight to the produce on offer and challenges the farm has faced of recent due to seasonal changes. Our menu gave insight into the rewilding projects they are working on and their ‘conservation grazing cattle’,  in collaboration with The Wildlife Trust.  The atmospheric oak barn and communal tables, lit purely by a cosy log fire and candle light, offer a perfect place to celebrate a special birthday or occasion.

We loved the vegan menu, and everyone is catered for. They are particularly known for their aged, smouldering Nancarrow beef and grilled cabbage dishes.

2. The Hidden Hut, Portscatho

Perched on the Roseland Peninsula, The Hidden Hut is a culinary gem offering simple, stunning food in a magical seaside setting. Open for lunch during the day and hosting summer feast events in the evening, it’s a must-visit for food lovers with huge rustic charm. During their summer events, long communal tables are set up on the tranquil beach, where diners enjoy dishes like wood-fired, locally caught seafood, barbecued meats, and vegan delights cooked over open flames. As the sun sets, the atmosphere is nothing short of enchanting, and it's a really social occasion.

Bring your own plates and dress for all weathers, no two events are the same and showcase the best seasonal produce. The Hidden Hut’s emphasis on seasonal ingredients and simple, traditional cooking techniques creates a dining experience that’s both unique and environmentally conscious, leaving guests inspired to eat more mindfully. Rick Stein has named this ‘An Unforgettable Eating Experience’.

3. The Mussel Shoal, Porthleven

For seafood lovers, The Mussel Shoal in Porthleven is a dream come true. This floating restaurant serves fresh mussels and other seafood delights straight from the harbour, which you’ll nestle up to whilst feasting. Imagine sitting at communal tables with the salty sea breeze in your hair, watching the fishing boats that supplied your meal.

The Mussel Shoal’s commitment to sustainability and local produce is evident in every dish, from their mussels steamed with Cornish cider to their freshly caught fish specials. The social setting invites conversations with fellow diners, creating a memorable, community-focused dining experience.

This is alfresco, fun (not fine!) dining at its finest, in one of the most beautiful harbour and seaside villages in all of Cornwall.

4. Potager Garden Feast Nights

Hidden in a serene valley, Potager Garden is still a fairly lesser known experience- a tranquil retreat offering vegetarian and vegan feast nights. The focus here is on organic produce grown in the garden itself, complemented by locally sourced ingredients.

The feast nights are an intimate affair, set in a glasshouse surrounded by greenery. With communal tables and shared platters, the experience encourages diners to connect over a love of fresh, sustainable food. Potager Garden’s inventive dishes celebrate the best of Cornwall’s plant-based bounty, leaving you feeling nourished and inspired.

The head chef Daisy and her team prepares a three course meal showcasing the best available produce from the garden and local producers. During these summer feast evening, all the tables are pushed together ‘banquet style’! Alike Nancarrow, you are given the chance to wander around the gardens and get a better connection to your food.

5. Coombeshead Farm, Lewannick

A final spot on this foodie pilgrimage is Coombeshead Farm. This idyllic retreat is a haven for fans of farm-to-table dining, offering set menus that highlight the best of their organic produce, house-made charcuterie, and artisan bread.

Communal dining tables in the farmhouse kitchen provide a warm and sociable atmosphere, perfect for connecting with like-minded food enthusiasts. The farm’s dedication to ethical farming and local ingredients makes every bite an act of mindfulness.
