Nestled along Cornwall's serene south-east coastline, Lantic Bay remains one of the county's most enchanting hidden treasures. This secluded beach cove offers a tranquil escape from the bustling crowds, presenting visitors with pristine natural beauty and a sense of untouched serenity. The water is glass-like during all seasons, and although it's a hike down and back up, we can assure you it is 100% worth it. In the summertime, this beach could be mistaken for Greece or somewhere much more exotic. The views looking down on to the beach are absolutely spectacular.
Lantic Bay is renowned for its expansive, fine shingle beach, embraced by towering cliffs and lush countryside. The beach's unspoiled charm and peaceful ambiance make it an ideal spot for paddling, sea swimming in the crystal clear water, picnicking, and soaking in the sun. The effort to reach this secluded haven is rewarded with breathtaking views and a sense of tranquility that's hard to find elsewhere. nationaltrust.org.uk
Getting to Lantic Bay takes a little effort and isn't for the faint hearted or those less mobile, but that’s part of its charm- keeping it a peaceful retreat away from the crowds and more popular tourist spots. Visitors can park at the National Trust car park near Polruan (postcode PL23 1NP), from where a scenic 20-minute walk across rolling farmland leads to a steep cliffside path down to the beach. The descent is quite steep, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties or families with younger children or anyone with dogs, especially during hotter days. Sturdy footwear is essential, so don't just pack flip flops! The climb back up can be demanding, it’s best to pack light for a more enjoyable visit- don't be bringing your beach trolley! Make sure you pack plenty of water to drink, too.
While Lantic Bay itself is a secluded retreat, the surrounding area offers several attractions worth exploring:

" Paradise in britain. Absolutely amazing beach, well worth a visit. There is a good walk to get there from the car park, which involves a steep descent to the beach. My advice is don't wear sliders like we did wear trainers, as difficult walk back."

"An unspoilt gem. As everyone else mentions the walk down isn't easy but that is the very reason this place is so special, probably the best beach I've visited in the UK and the weather played its part stunning for October"

" A real hidden gem, completely off the beaten track (literally, a good mile walk down steep & rocky path), but well worth it because the beach is unspoilt and picturesque. It's a mixture of sand & shingles, with almost clear water (you'd almost think you were in the Med, if it wasn't for the freezing water!) It's a great for snorkelling too, but try to plan for a sunny day if possible! Can highly recommend."
